VISIT TO A TEA GARDEN & FACTORY:
Assam is known for its tea all over the world. Even my friends from other parts of the country know about it. Tourists from all around come all the way here to experience tea plantation but weirdly I never visited a tea garden and a factory exclusively. So, this time when I had a long weekend, I knew exactly how I was going to spend it. I looked up for the closest tea gardens to the city.
The first option that came up was Tepesia Tea Estate. I wanted to stay overnight so I booked a resort near the estate, ‘Brahmaputra Jungle Resort’. It’s one of the closest resorts near the estate and if you inform them prior they arrange your plantation tour including visit to the Tea Factory. I did the same. I called the resort 1 day prior and booked the tour.
I left my home at 8 in the morning and reached the resort by 9. By the time we checked in, it was already 10 so we ate our breakfast first and then we left to visit the garden after that. When I reached, the gardeners were already there and were plucking the tea leaves.
I also got a first-hand experience of plucking the leaves from the plants and got to know about how for different types of tea different types of leaves and sizes of buds are plucked. It’s nice to find out about the whole plantation process and the different types of tea.
Visit to the Amchang Tea factory was even more exciting. Special thanks to the manager for answering all my questions and being a great host. By the time we reached back it was 5, so we took rest and stayed inside the room for the evening. We ended the day with a delicious dinner.
Next morning, we started the day with a swim in the infinity pool of the resort. The checkout was at noon so we had our breakfast and left for home. Will definitely recommend this wholesome experience hosted by Brahmaputra Jungle Resort, to my friends!
