Conservation Always Our Top Priority Brahmaputra Jungle Resort: A Living Example of Harmonious Coexistence with Nature
Nestled on the periphery of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary, Brahmaputra Jungle Resort is not just a place to unwind—it’s a shining example of what a true eco-friendly resort in Guwahati can be. It stands as a living, breathing testament to how sustainable travel can flourish when driven by vision, compassion, and deep respect for nature.
Years ago, the land where the resort now thrives was nothing but a barren ground—devoid of trees or wildlife. But where others saw emptiness, our founder Mr. Tridib Sarma saw untapped potential. With a dream of creating a space that would offer both comfort to guests and refuge to nature, he took the first step towards building what would eventually become one of the most beloved jungle resorts in Guwahati.
Tree by tree, the dream took root.
Sapling by sapling, the barren landscape slowly transformed into the lush, green paradise you see today. Unlike conventional development, every part of the resort was built around the forest, not over it—ensuring that natural contours, existing vegetation, and native ecosystems remained untouched and respected. Our aim is to offer not just a holiday, but a meaningful experience—where guests reconnect with nature without disturbing its delicate balance.
Today, the resort is home to an amazing variety of life.
Thanks to this mindful approach, Brahmaputra Jungle Resort, now a model eco-friendly resort in Guwahati, is a vibrant habitat for numerous species. You’ll find colorful, exotic birds, majestic sambars, playful langurs, and many more creatures who have found a safe haven here. For nature lovers and photographers, it has also become a hidden gem for birdwatching in Assam, offering a chance to witness unique avian species right from the comfort of the property. Guests often find themselves sharing quiet moments with nature, watching a bird flit past, spotting a sambar grazing near the woods, or catching a glimpse of langurs swinging through the treetops.
Our commitment to conservation goes beyond the boundaries of the resort.
Over the years, we have actively conducted widespread plantation drives as part of our ongoing reforestation and awareness efforts. One of the most memorable of these initiatives was graced by none other than the Forest Man of India, Padma Shri Jadav Payeng—a global symbol of ecological dedication. His presence not only inspired our team but also deeply moved the community, reinforcing our shared responsibility toward protecting nature.
But planting trees is just one part of the journey. Real change comes from education and collaboration. That’s why we’ve also organized awareness programs involving local villagers and school teachers—ensuring that the message of conservation reaches the grassroots. These programs aim to foster a deeper connection between communities and their environment, encouraging future generations to become custodians of the forest, not just inhabitants of it.
As part of our ongoing endeavour to conserve nature and support community-driven initiatives, we were honoured to recently host the inspiring women of the Hargila Army. Led by renowned conservationist Dr. Purnima Devi Barman, the Hargila Army is a group of grassroots women conservationists from Assam who have played a pivotal role in protecting the endangered Greater Adjutant Stork (locally known as Hargila).
Their visit was a moment of pride and learning for all of us. Their passion, resilience, and tireless efforts to protect one of the world’s rarest storks align deeply with our own conservation values. By hosting and interacting with these incredible women, we aim to not only celebrate their work but also create platforms where conservation and community empowerment go hand in hand.
One story that continues to touch hearts is that of our rescued tortoise.
During a visit to the Sonapur local market, our long-time team member Mr. Gobindo Kalita spotted a tortoise being sold for its meat. Acting on instinct and kindness, he rescued it and released it into our pond, where it continues to live peacefully. That tortoise is now part of our ecosystem and a symbol of our values.
At Brahmaputra Jungle Resort, conservation is not a marketing phrase—it is a way of life. Every decision we make, from construction to daily operations, is guided by our responsibility toward the environment and the wildlife around us. We believe in creating experiences that are sustainable, meaningful, and deeply connected to nature.
So, when you walk our forest trails, relax beneath the canopy, or wake up to the call of a hornbill, know that it is all part of a greater purpose—a purpose rooted in respect, care, and conservation.
Come experience the wilderness, the peace, and the purpose at Brahmaputra Jungle Resort—where nature comes first, always. If you’re looking for the most authentic resorts in Guwahati that blend sustainability with comfort, we invite you to be a part of our story.
