Trekking at Brahmaputra Jungle Resort

Experince the Wilderness

When we say experience nature at its best, trekking at Brahmaputra Jungle Resort is the place to be! Located on the outskirts of Guwahati city, it is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. The drive to the resort is scenic with tea gardens on one side and the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary.
The resort gives one, a holistic experience of not just relaxing in the serene beauty of lush greenery but also giving one the opportunity to explore its surroundings.

The best part about the stay at the resort is that it allows its visitors to trek along the wild trail of the Wildlife Sanctuary. We can witness some of its rare and endangered species of birds and animals found in the mysterious and immaculate wilderness of the valley in Assam.

I must say” Trekking at Brahmaputra Jungle resort is easily the best fun filled and thrilling experince to have.”

Trekking at Brahmaputra Jungle Resort is a mesmerising experience. So accordingly, I plan an overnight stay at the resort during the weekend with a friend and decided to engage in the adventurous and thrilling activities catered to its guests. We reach Brahmaputra Jungle Resort just before dusk and I am glad to see that keeping in view of the Covid situation all necessary safety protocols are maintained.

Since we were late in reaching we can take part in only few recreational activities. So after enjoying a sumptuous dinner in a kiosk beautifully located on the pond side. We decide to crash early since the next day we plan to trek early in the morning into the wilderness with the help of a guide.
At 6 in the morning, I get a call from the reception that our guide Mr. Bubul has arrived to take us trekking and give us the jungle experience. Without any delay, me and my friend quickly get ready and carry along with us a small backpack comprising of biscuits and water bottles. At the very entrance of the reception we meet Bulbul, a lean guy with a friendly face probably in his early thirties.

Trekking at BJR is thrilling.

Our guide give us a quick briefing about the entire trek covering a distance of 2kms. He advises us to be vigil since the forest is full of unexpected guests like insects, snakes and wild animals.

Well, the very thought of encountering wild animals and snakes give us a chill down our spine but Bubul convinces us that there is no reason to fear and there are thrilling ways to handle such situations tactfully.
We embark on our trek making our way up the hill from behind the resort and just 5mins into the trek the trail turns little steep and enters into a lush green vegetation.
On our way up, our guide enthusiastically showed us ways to mark our trail naturally using leaves and twigs. He gave us demonstrations on how to protect ourselves if we ever happen to encounter wild animals like elephants and leopard cats which is a common sight in these forests.
As we move ahead about a kilometre from the resort, we come across a huge black rock which gave a 360 degree breath-taking view of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary. We climb the rock and cannot stop admiring the beauty around as we keep trekking ahead.

Further, the forest thickens with huge trees leaving us with mesmerizing memories.

Apart from a wide variety of birds, one can also be treated with different colourful butterflies which is blissful to the eye. Bubul is an avid birder. He tells us how keen he is to also learn about the various species of butterflies found there. We aren’t lucky to see any endangered mammals. But we surely got to see fresh dung piles of wild elephants scattered on the route indicative of their presence at any given point of time and space.
We become cautious and pace our walk in order to avoid any dangerous encounter. On our way back we see some monkeys with long tails, acrobatically diving from one higher branch of a tree to another. Bubul inform us that they are the Langurs. Once we reach the top of the hill, we take a detour and carefully make our way down the trail to reach the resort.

While the trek is a short one, we thoroughly enjoy our sheer time amidst nature and the jovial company of our guide Bubul who is busy making sure we have a memorable experience while trekking at Brahmaputra Jungle Resort.

Back in the resort, we order for a king size breakfast and decide to take a dip in the pool before heading back home. It is indeed an amazing weekend escape into nature’s lap!!
